Hope so. Reduce the effects of the La Nina and it's associated AR or atmospheric rainfall flows. :banghead:

Yes cold air to start September. The atmosphere is certainly showing signs of some better energy aswel.
The models are showing some weak signals for potential thunder now for Canterbury as we get out of winter.
Saturday afternoon being one of the days to keep eye on.
Nothing major or anything, just signs we are heading towards the season

The Winter storm season was a no show here so hoping the inland Waikato season shows up in a month or two. The motorway from central Auckland to Cambridge is fully open now. :D

Felt more like the 1st day of summer, not spring.

A generally fine and mild day to start off Spring for 2022. Some scattered high cloud moving across from the west.
Today's maximum was 17.4C. Light variable winds for today.
Interesting forecast for down here for today. I don't know where the rain was along the Alps as it looked fine and clear from here with a bit of NW Arching this afternoon. Radar showed some rain down south. Nothing much down south to put a low risk for Nth Otago/South Canterbury.?

MetService thunderstorm outlook tonight seems bang on to what I would be thinking. GFS has been consistent about tomorrow for Canterbury for 5 days now

Yes Mike. I see that for tomorrow, will keep an eye out but the forecasts for here over the last couple of days haven't been all that good.
Haven't had a thunderstorm here for ages so I wouldn't have much hope for tomorrow. :-k
Anyway, another fine day today here ,similar to yesterday with mild temperatures and scattered high cloud. 18.9C here for today.

Yup a bust day.it happens, other nights we are debriefing with how good the day was. I'm picking perhaps the lack of surface moisture today, there was definitely a chance though

Yes. Low cloud and drizzle moving in this evening with 0.3mm of it for today, however clearing away to become fine later.
Warm Saturday anyway, the maximum temperature being 20.6C for the day with west to NW winds this afternoon before the southerly clagg arrived.

The best snow set up of the year for the North Island.
Watch for some heavy rain here from tomorrow afternoon, easing conditions here by Tuesday morning but turning quite cold.

GFS showing 5 degrees with rain here first thing on Tuesday morning... certainly would be more wintry than anything we had so far this year!

Interesting?. Calm blue dome day here with just a hint of a NE.
Blowing a gale way down south apparently. Containers blown over at Bluff according to the media.

Lucky you are down stream from the highest part of the Southern Alps John.
Wouldn't want this wind to be any stronger otherwise damage would be happening.

You tend to get alot of strong winds from the NW don't you Richard. Blue some sky in rolleston today, a breezy dry NW currently
