Re: General September Weather
Interesting day weather wise. Not really eventuating as forecasted but obviously a cold weather surge coming through resulting in a wintry hail shower coming through from 7pm and rain following on. Interesting to here about snow around the Mayfield area and other places.
Today's maximum was 17C before it clouded over, with 9.3mm of precipitation from 7pm.

Re: General September Weather
Heavy rain and sleet last night, hail grapel and even snow flurries in the city this morning.
A tad cold but I'm sure it will warm up quick this afternoon.

Re: General September Weather
The slightest of dustings of snow here earlier in Halswell. Only enough to settle on the roof and soon melt

Is it snow or graupel covering the top of Worsleys in the Port Hills? Walked to the Awatea overbridge to see the majestic mountains and returned home to:

Re: General September Weather
Great view from that Mt Hutt road.
Only had 8.9mm from the NW spill yesterday over but boy it turned a ground soggy again just as it was starting to dry a little.

Re: General September Weather
After yesterday's poor performance of any lightning related activity, today it became a fine and sunny day. 14C for today.
Rather cool overnight with it dipping below zero around 5am this morning. 3C around 10pm.

Re: General September Weather
Clouding over this morning with a southerly influence but nothing really interesting developing from it. Back to the NE from just after noon.
Today's maximum was 13.4C. Calm evening. Boring really.
With boring weather, is that another fact of "Climate Change" ? The media just go on about weather events where tragedy happens especially with loss of human lives, etc.? Watt about people like us who get frustrated with boring weather

Re: General September Weather
The ECMWF has Gisborne at 160mm over next 10 days... Napier 120mm.
That, we dont need, with sodden fields already and crops way behind, or unable to be planted (Onion crop only 25% of normal in HB)
Apple tree planting abandoned and trees returned to nursery
No early corn planted etc etc
Similar story up north I believe, shocker of a growing season.

Well behind getting my seed crops in also, its only being a few days where much of this block is dry enough to prepare the soil.Blowy wrote: ↑Sun 18/09/2022 10:42 The ECMWF has Gisborne at 160mm over next 10 days... Napier 120mm.

Re: General September Weather
Fill the freezer with last seasons peas/beans/corn... they will be in short supply in 2023, likewise canned veges/fruit?
Surprising there is no 'big wet ' thread on this forum, it really is shaping as a proper event.

Re: General September Weather
Yep everyone here struggling. Feed in short supply. Everyone fed their stock their winter feed in autumn and any summer feed on hand has now gone. Farmers are scrambling for some summer feed but there hasn’t been a good growing winter early spring. It’s nearly been 12 months of very testing conditions. It’s really starting to take its toll.Blowy wrote:The ECMWF has Gisborne at 160mm over next 10 days... Napier 120mm.

Milder weather has arrived here, currently 17C, dew point 14C, overcast.
The BOP Ranges/central NI down to the upper SI look favoured for thunder risk on Wednesday with cold upper level conditions, see what the models look like tomorrow .

Re: General September Weather
Nice to have the milder weather.
The GFS has cold upper trough crossing Auckland tomorrow morning with some convergence, something to watch.
