Re: US Weather 2023
The moderate risk unfortunately verified today with a tornado outbreak occurring in Mississippi. One storm chaser’s vehicle was flipped in the tornado in Rolling Fork. Many other storm chasers are doing search and rescue in multiple towns across Mississippi. Lots of images on Facebook from the usual contributors. Also Ryan Hall on Twitter.

And another day if you are in a position to armchair chase (Sunday there so there may be a good number live streaming soon, but it's not an easy area to chase)

Re: US Weather 2023
Severe weather season is well and truly alive in the US. A moderate risk for tomorrow and another system lining up for next week.
https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html
The long range is looking very interesting with systems rolling through every few days.

Re: US Weather 2023
Jane & Clyve have started the Journey visiting family in the UK heading to the US. Daniel is already there doing the necessary prep for his season. I'm starting to get excited at the prospect of finally getting back (for a chasecation). Tomorrow looks ok, but Wednesday (Here, Tue in the US) looks even more interesting.

Re: US Weather 2023
Goodness me this is one hell of an outbreak. It has been a number of years since we had one like this. I’m assuming the return of El Niño is a contributing factor?

Re: US Weather 2023
EN isn't there yet. More like the recent SSW has something to do with it. Downstream impacts from SSWs can occur for months after.darcyplumb wrote: ↑Sat 01/04/2023 12:09 Goodness me this is one hell of an outbreak. It has been a number of years since we had one like this. There is model agreement for a big upper ridge to gradually move in from the west onto the Plains to annoy the early May chasers.

Nearly qualifies as a "Gorilla" hail stone. The Gorilla cluster hailstone has more jaggerty parts and can cause a lot of damage.Simon Culling wrote: ↑Fri 28/04/2023 03:36 Certainly some big hail in Texas on Wednesday 26th April - this one is 4" across.

I would wear a hard hat if I was filming one these hailstorms with Gorillas falling.
