Re: General December Weather
Very turbulent skies above town at the moment. Towers everywhere that have developed very quickly over the last 30 minutes.

Re: General December Weather
Just for the record, my first Regal Lilies opened overnight. About on usual schedule for my garden.
Was foggy first thing this morning, then, as others have observed, rained and was quite humid.
26.1°C at the moment on my thermometer.

Towers going up here with some juicy Cu congestus forms.
Some rumbles heard was up high in the cloud just after 5pm.

Sadly, the above was rather weak and cloud more or less quickly dissipated.
Warm and humid here today.

Re: General December Weather
Interesting day here today with surprisingly, hearing thunder when the sky is covered with clagg??????????????? I'm confused
....anyway, a humid or close, cloudy day with some rain this morning and a few drops this afternoon, with light variable winds from betwixt SW and east. In the afternoon interesting cloud forms did eventuate with thunder heard high up in the cloud. Later in the day low cloud and clagg rolled in from the south and remaining rather overcast right through to this evening. More thunder heard to the south this evening within the clagg.
Today's maximum was 24.4C with humidity up to 95% at one stage.

Re: General December Weather
Towers developing to my south already this morning. Similar area to yesterday. I’m right on the edge of the risk area again so I think I’ll miss out as I did yesterday.

Tomorrow looks like a day for you where a drive up into the Ashburton Lakes area could make for a fantastic day.darcyplumb wrote: ↑Sat 17/12/2022 09:18 Towers developing to my south already this morning. Re: General December Weather
Go out through Lewis Pass tomorrow Richard.
The gloom is back here today. Next week looks a much brighter week for Auckland. If I feel like a drive tomorrow I might head north, see where the convergence is in next few model runs.

Re: General December Weather
Just seen footage from under the tornado near Alexandra on the Otago Weather Updates page on Facebook, quite impressive for New Zealand looked to be 150+kmh lots of flying debris too.
Will keep an eye out if it pops up on another site better for future reference linking.
They also said a caravan was completely obliterated, a classic stove pipe tornado.
I checked the radars in the area for the time and there was a definite wee hook there.

Re: General December Weather
Plenty of sunshine and humidity here today but just not much instability. Some cumulus development earlier but nothing significant
