Fairly sharp pressure change with the front as it went through Queenstown earlier, haven't seen it move around like it did tonight for a while. Temperature down to 12 degrees and dropping steadily still.

Fine day. Warming up during the morning and afternoon to reach today's maximum of 31.7C.
Southerly through after 5pm with the usual reduction in Temperature.
Some low status moving in this evening.
Probably a day of clagg and drizzle tomorrow. I see that the airport at Levels hasn't recorded any rain this month. We've had 12.4mm so far.

Yes you are right, Looking from here its normal to see a dusting on the very tallest of the mountains tops year round, but there has been none so far this year, most unusual.

I'd say that's a Rogue run. ECMWF doesn't agree with GFS and going by records it seems the most consistent when it comes to the low pressure systems and rain events.

We probably have to keep an eye on the tropics for the next couple of months. The blocking high has also been part of the problem over Summer for heavy rainfall and the position of the high to the SE allowing for more upper level cooling over the upper NI than we would normally see.

A wet overcast day with 38.3mm of rain for today. Light southerly winds.
Today's daytime maximum only 10.5C . What a contrast to yesterday.

That's a cold day for summer, John - and a drop of 21°C from the previous day. In what is the UK equivalent of August, we would not see a day maximum that low over the low ground.

Even some snow for the high ground in Otago at Cardrona. The resort guide has an elevation of 1650m for the base of the ski field - is this where that photo was taken?

Wow I’ve just checked the radar. It hasn’t rained here at all this morning. Looks like we may get more later on this afternoon with showers developing off the coast.

Southerly wind has suddenly freshened and drawn itself to my attention, ''wuthering" in the eaves and tossing trees and shrubs etc around; squall of rain lashing down now too.
Temp. 12.9°C and falling.

Could be Christchurch's coldest ever February maximum if the temperature doesn't get above 11.4C today at the airport - currently sitting on 10.8C at 1.48pm

66mm for the event for Lincoln Uni. Blue sky now, but we now have some building leaks and reasonable surface flooding to take care of

Had a few really quite heavy showers in the past hour, sporadic drops too enough to cause surface flooding quickly.
Almost expected a clap of thunder, the air is still cold enough so I was thinking I wouldn't be surprised to see small hail today too especially now we have sunny breaks to allow for heating.
These showers will continue until about mid afternoon tomorrow, good drought breaker \:D/

The 10.5C was the daytime maximum. The actual maximum was 16.1C recorded just after midnight.
