Gradually clearing overnight and this morning and becoming fine and sunny despite a rather cool SW to south winds blowing.
Winds gradually easing this afternoon but clouding over to the east along the foothills.
Today's maximum was 17.1C.

Down to 4.6 on my urban station so little heat island effect despite plenty of sun yesterday.

Basically a fine sunny day with southerly winds dying out but you could see the remnants of the recent southerly way out to sea from Patti Point just south of Timaru. Seas were quite light considering.
Today's maximum was 18.4C. SE sea breezes for today becoming light later in the day with it clouding up towards the foothills.

Not much of a day here. Fine weather with some clouds. 18.6C for today with light winds, probably from the NE, didn't take much notice.
Can't wait for the clagg to come in with tomorrow's southerly change

Today never really stuck out to me to be a day for thunderstorms, just a brief spillover as the front moved up the island at lunchtime.
Also a brief shower late afternoon, and remained quite mild.
The southerly is just arriving now.

Tuesdays front has our coldest air for the year so far, although the majority of it skirting out into the Pacific.
The early morning wind change on sunrise might have another gust front, possibly up to gale force around the coast and Peninsula.
Snow to around 600m potentially, doesn't seem to be any potential for convection though.

The forecasted (by me) clagg rolled in about a half an hour after the southerly change and remained for the rest of the evening.
It was an overcast day with high cloud and a weak NW Arch for much of the day with a few overthrow showers moving across from the west this afternoon. 0.3mm for today.
Clearing a little later this afternoon with the sun coming out and lifting the temperature to today's maximum of 19.8C.
Not much wind except for the weak gusto front around 6:45pm. Calm evening with low cloud. I notice MS still forecasting possible thunderstorms up to 10pm when it is obviously, well all day that thunderstorms wont happen. Maybe because of TC Gabrielle the possibility of thunderstorm or thundery showers activity have to be used in forecasts with a wind change, maybe?

Yes, an early taste of Winter Tuesday-Wednesday mainly affecting the South Island, see what the next couple of model runs look like.

Short sharp trough Tuesday much like we had a couple weeks ago but colder. These sorts of abrupt SW changes seems to be on the rise again.. mother nature changing cycle as it does.

Snow to relatively low levels for time of year Will be some frosts inland this week overnight Tuesday and Wednesday

An overcast day of clagg here although it was fine inland and way out to sea. Light NE wind.
16.4C it got up when the sun poked through the cloud around lunch time.
1mm of drizzle overnight.

Models consistent with a cold trough sweeping over South island tomorrow. Rain for most in morning retreating to showers in afternoon. Some of which may well be heavy with hail as that trough sweeps up the coast

A blue dome day initially but high cloud gradually moving in from the west with a bit of a W Arch this evening.
Light NE but calm this evening.

This southerly is like the last one, stronger out near the coast than here. Certainly cold though on 6.8deg.
