Simular winds to yesterday here if not slightly stronger, gusts up to around 65-70kmh.
The mid week system still looking significant, the low in the southern ocean is predicted to be 940hpa. So it will be dragging that warm air right across the Tasman.

Three days in and four days to go till these gales subside. They have been very strong at times but nothing damaging, thankfully

A break from cooler gales of the last few days overnight, now the winds are back but much warmer.

Apparently I heard that strong winds blew the verandah off the Otira railway station or it became dislodged.

Probably the windiest it’s been here at the moment since this westerly period began late last week. We’ve been fortunate to miss the worst of it so far.

I see SH8 is shut around Twizel due to "multiple powerlines down" . I presume that's wind related

Not much wind here so far today but I see the NWwinds are fanning a vegetation fire down Waimate way.

Apparently MS's Dunedin radar site on Lamb Hill (316m asl) recorded a gust of 245 km/h today...
