Thunderstorms Eastern SI Oct 2nd
Thought I would start a new topic for this given its looking like one of our first decent set ups for the coming season.
Even though the NW is very strong there prior to the change. It Is more about the abruptness of the wind change and such cold air surging in behind.
A strong trough moving in during the afternoon/evening.
Perhaps a good chance to see a roll cloud gust front too.
Some very strong winds on arrival 50kts, could meet a severe threshold for storms.
Also maybe supportive of 15-20mm hail.

The models have done a flip overnight in not showing much in terms of precipitation for the region until around 10pm.
So the risk of storms has somewhat diminished.

Is what they call crawler lightning defined as cloud to cloud light or is it called something else, anyway that was one of the best Ive seen here, it shot across in all directions. Could have done with a few more of them though

Nice to hear about the lightning spreading east with that band.
Was surprised to see a steady shower in the city this morning.
Not too bad currently on 19C and moderate to sometimes strong NWer.
Will definitely pick up more so from lunchtime onwards.
Got the chainsaw at the ready for here at work if need be.
Starting to get a few wind blown spots of rain so it must be picking up further west now.

Lots of bright crawler lightning from cloud to cloud in the thunderstorm we had the other morning.
