Looks like a good southerly spell in the back end of this week. Decent rain for the garden hopefully

Much stronger supported convergence tomorrow for about and west of the main divide. Perhaps a few isolated cells further east on the plains too, but probably just in the form of heavy showers.

Thursday evening after a very warm day possibly around 28C, presents an evening low risk on the wind change too.

A fine day here, convergence out to the east but not expecting there be much from it for Auckland. See what the cold air does later in the week.

See what happens tomorrow.
Here is a picture of some Cu over the 5 Peaks on our way back from Timaru this afternoon, all gone an hour or so later.

Blue dome day with moderate NE winds.
Some weak Cu forms along the foothills.
Warm here as compared to Timaru. 23C for today.
I see that it is Wellington's turn for "Clagg" today with disruption to flights from the airport. >_<

Was certainly a bad day to be trying to get in or out of Wellington Airport yesterday. People kept joking about the "lack of wind" causing the issue, but it was a 20 knot southerly nearly all day. It was the Relative Humidity sitting at 99% or higher, and the cool sea temps in Cook Strait that was causing the issue! Was misty rain first thing (made for a damp bike ride into work), but as the day went on, the roads in town started to dry out. By 6pm it was a stunning evening with clear sky.

There was a mad rush of flights between 10 and 11pm from Auckland and Chch to relocate planes, but there will still be a massive backlog of people to clear in coming days. Pity the people being offered hotel rooms for (apparently) over $800 last night!

Also plane related.... The forecast for the 'delayed' Wings Over Wairarapa airshow on the weekend does not look good at all. Up to 30knot southerly and rain for the 3 days (Practice on Friday). They are having bad luck given it was delayed from earlier in the year due to the aftermath of Cyclone Gabriel (and Air Force involvement in response activities).

The Nor' easter this week has certainly been ruining the weather in ChCh. Thanks to Tony's explanation the other night on FB too, I finally fully understand why and how this works, and why its seemingly worse in an El Nino year.

Just got back from CHCH where as you say Nor' easter is not overly pleasant, hardly a leaf moving here and 23deg, hopefully this warmth will get something going later the afternoon, a few bubbling clouds around the hills at the moment

Didn't look like it as surface conditions not really favourable even though it was a warm day here.
I think Black Friday should be renamed Bleak Friday as it does look like a bleak day after the southerly comes through late tomorrow?

Must be summer: windows open in my home, and obviously in the neighbour's, as I can hear their television going.
Also it's warmer indoors (23.8°C) than outdoors (21.8°C) now.

Warm day here too. Details later this evening.
As I said inn an earlier posting, it's going to be a Bleak Friday here after the cold front comes through tomorrow >_<

The mt peel area has finally fired up tonight. Perhaps not as explosive as it could have been but it's happening. Ashburton might even get a clap of thunder. Won't chase tonight as by time I leave rolleston and get down their it probably will die.

Dry here at the moment but I can see the menacing clouds inland and north of town.

Interesting that nothing here is mentioned about the mesocyclone which formed this afternoon over Auckland. Various photo's and video's are on the web.
