That's a pain. What was predicted? I've been surprised at how accurate the overnight low forecasts have have been for past 2 years, compared to even 5 years ago. Wonder if upgraded models and prehaps more sensors have made a difference.

MS predicted an overnight/morning low of 0°C for Mosgiel, although I see Dunedin Aero was down to at least -1.6°C this morning...
A cold night but it only got down to 6.8C overnight with some drizzle in cloudy conditions.
Cloud slowly easing away during the latter part of the morning with the sun coming out and then eventually clearing during the afternoon with some cirrussy forms. Light NE developing with today's maximum being 17.6C before the NE developed, then the temperature dropped from then on.
Cloudy again this evening.
A mainly blue dome day with not much wind but a cooler NE developed later this afternoon.
Some light cloud around the foothills.
Today's maximum was 23.7C before the NE.
I see some rain on the radar this evening?
It has been nice to have some paki the last few days, after the lingering low brought several days of cloud and showery southerlies.
A weaker NW flow into show week will see temperatures in the early to mid twenties.
Friday was originally showing a possibility of a low risk for thunderstorms. But the cooler upper air wants to sit further south until Friday night.
It wasn't a great risk but given we are moving into what I call the start of the height of storm season I think usual minimal risks become more likely.
Just a welcome splash of rain for the region on Friday show day.
If we get some good west and SW phases through December it should be quite an active month for the Canterbury plains.
Interesting but boring NW day here with it becoming warm around noon but then high cloud moving in from the west with some light rain falling this afternoon and into the evening. Hardly any wind if so from the SE. Some weak mammatus forms in the cloud this afternoon prior to the rain.
Today's maximum was 22.7C.with 0.5mm of rain.

Nor'west day, sunny.
Must be Show Week!
Which is a week later now than it used to be.
Snowed or sleeted in Ashburton a day or two prior to the 1976 Show, around 9th-10th November
Looks like a wet day for Show Day and our Geraldine Festival on Friday.
We have an open garden on the Friday. Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully the weather will be favourable for this.

Got the fan out here too and had to put the shorts on, weeding the drive and garden for our open day. Must of shocked the neighbours
28C the maximum for today in sunny north to NW conditions with a NW breeze for much of the afternoon.
Light southerly now this evening.
Warm and sunny in Christchurch today, maybe 28°C.
Dust blowing down the Rakaia River at the main highway bridge 3:30pm, quite thick.
Not sure, there may be an explosive-looking cloud to the south-west?
I've seen cloud forms like that from here looking to the west. Possibly looks like quite a dominating wind shear scenario?
...anyway a fine day here with some scattered cloud. Light southerly turning more westerly later this afternoon.
Today's maximum was 23.4C.
Southerly moving in this evening later with low cloud moving in.
A mainly fine day here with some scattered Cu cloud forms in a semi-hazy sky. Easterly winds.
Cloud cover moving in this evening.
Today's maximum was 20.5C here.
Some rain overnight and early this morning clearing away and becoming fine but with scattered cloud around for most of the day, high and middle cloud range forms.
Today's maximum was 21.6C with a light easterly. 4.3mm of rain for today.
Looking at thunderstorm risk next few days, a low thunderstorm risk for west Otago later today due to heating, convergence and an upper cold trough.
A low thunderstorm risk for the upper North Island Sunday with the incoming low system, very moist sub tropical air and cool upper levels.
An afternoon shower pattern is showing early/mid next week for some parts of NZ.

Little bit of moisture to start the day. Then sunny with wind changing now which sent this flight on a scenic tour while the airport turned the runway.
