Latest model runs for Auckland for Xmas day point to a dry morning followed by one or two afternoon showers, the showers forming along a convergence zone running from Northland down into Waikato.

Feeling somewhat grateful to have the sea breeze this afternoon, has maxed out at 26C and I don't think it will climb too much more.
There's still a lot of variance in the models in regards to around Christmas boxing day, but will certainly be a mix for sure.

Today here is the first 30+ day for 2013-24 summer. Was 31.5 before the arrival of the NW wind, this will slightly moderate the temps over the next few hours.
Went and visited a mate in Diamond Harbour, car gauge said ( no where accurate with hot roads ) 24deg there, Taitapu 31deg, then Woodend 21, got home to 33deg. Big range.

29.4deg C here with a light easterly. The easterly normally cools things down but it hasn’t today. Also I concur with the greasies recommendation. That’s exactly what we did!

Yes thankfully a light southerly has just kicked in here, would be a scorcher over 30C even before lunch otherwise.
Currently 25C and not even 9am, but I see the moderate southerly coming in on the radar.
Lots of haze in the sky from the aussie bush fires, sun has a dimmed light to it.

Still a lot of instability about, but its a game of pin the tail on the donkey (or pin the anvil on the CB) to try to guess where and when the storms might fire up.

Sticky night overnight with temperature in the mid to high teens with high humidity and becoming warm again early this morning with today's maximum of 22.5C recorded before the dry southerly went through just before 9am this morning.
Low cloud and stratus layers moving in and becoming cloudy and overcast for the rest of the day with light SE winds for the rest of the day.
Not much improvement for tomorrow sadly :(
I now wonder about thunderstorms on incoming fronts this summer? Will we just get "summery Clagg" moving in following the southerly change? :-k

Need another 47mm this year and it will be the wettest year in my records. Looks possible. I see there’s even thunderstorm activity in the outlook for Christmas Day

Watch for thunderstorms on Xmas day for the upper North Island, there should be good convergence with the general dew point around 19C.

Maybe some thunderstorms way inland from Oamaru today, nothing here because of persistent clagg.

Broken clag here with thick high cloud above as well, but the odd break saw a couple of patches of sun during this avo. Noticed quite even temps around around Canterbury today

Well, it's been a long day here today, perhaps the longest day so far this year?
Overcast and cloudy or claggy all day with a bit of drizzle now and then. Light easterlies and a maximum of 18.5C.
It was sunny in inland areas producing some thunderstorms down inland Otago way apparently.
