There should be more in the way of sunshine for Canterbury tomorrow.

Out on Banks Peninsula with the sun just squinting through its sitting on 29C, winds are very light I think from the Northerly quarter.
Makes it feel muggy but I can imagine how hot it would be with full sunshine.
The arch really isn't budging due to where the squash zone is, and also probably not strong enough NW winds across the plains.

Will definitely be a warm night anyway, more sun likely tomorrow but probably peaking at 30C before the dry surface afternoon SW change.

SH1 closed at Waipara due to a large fire that is being fanned by gusty NW winds.

That fire looks deliberate can tell by the black smoke it's burning a fuel source, and in straight lines opposite each other  .

NW still hasn't arrived in Christchurch but temperature remains on 20C as the arch is locking the days heat in.
After this weekends hopefully decent splash of rain, next week looks almost simular with ridged NW winds being dragged across the Tasman.

An overcast NW Archy cloud day kept the temperature at a reasonable temperature today with today's maximum being 25.9C.

Humid conditions here Saturday will bring a heavy shower risk, the heavy showers more likely south of here with a thunderstorm risk BOP/Waikato along a convergent airflow.
An upper cold system for the South Island on Saturday might generate some thunder activity there.

850mb temps modelled around 16C here today, yet it's only around 25C outside. Thought we'd easily be high twenties and near 30 with the 850 temp that warm
