Thanks very much people!! :D

I'm just going to add, amazingly another FC was spotted near Belfast yesterday coming down from a big Cu congestus cloud (it never touched the ground though). One of my Dad's colleages lives out near Rangiora and was coming into town when he saw one out that way. When he saw the picture of my FC on my desktop he said, "Yeah! It looked just like that", he saw it from a distance though and had no camera. And yes I predicted possible FC's for Monday, yehaa!:) The FC's continue! Storms forecast today, I doubt FC's though

MetService still have thunderstorms in their forecast for later today.
Because of this I am putting up a 3warning.
Surface conditions , sort of , give a indication of likely conditions eg. Ne breeze, lots of sunshine despite a reasonanly high barometer but the upper level looks cold but semi stable with cirris uncinus forms although there are also signs of small instability.
These High level conditions will be a key factor if anything eventuates :)

I now have some new pics on my site from a guy who just joined this forum but hasn't posted yet (Jason Tippet, aka lenticlasher). He lives in Kaiapoi and managed to snap of a few pics of the funnel from his home.

Hi guys

I got hold of a photo taken by a Christchurch Star photographer of an awsome funnel cloud which quiet likely could've been a tornado!! It was taken around the same time as the funnel me and Steve saw on the 16th and in the same area (this person was 5 or 6km away from where we were at the time) when we first saw it. I'm yet to confirm weather it was the same day but I've made further inquiries. Quite an awsome pic!!!

Hmm, for some reason I can't attach this thing at all or upload it to my site, it might have a digital watermark or something in it. Just give me a few ticks.

Edited: 5 minutes late

Ok, got it fixed. It was 32 Bit CMYK so needed to convert it to 24 Bit RGB, Should be ok now. Great eh!

Edited: additional 5 minutes later

OK, its confirmed. Just got an email back from the Christchurch Star guy. It was the same day me and Stephen saw our funnel which means I'm pretty sure it is the same one. This is what it was like when it first came down before me and Stephen got out to photograph it or quite possibly before we saw it. Good to hear.

Sorry the pic isn't up right now (12:33pm). A router has gone out or something has gone bad somewhere, give it time it'll come back.

Fantastic. I couldn't download it which was a bit of nuisance as Bob was here when I tried to download the attachment.
I have not put it into my favourties

I've now got 3 vid's up on my site for this funnel cloud chase! Just go into the report for the funnel cloud day (Sat 16th Oct 2004) and you'll see them towards the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Next time though when we do a timelapse we'll have to sit the video camera on the tripod for much longer, I didn't think at the time we could speed it up later to have a timelapse so that's why the third video is a bit all over the place but you can see the rotation. To caught up in the moment... 8)
