Seasons - natural signs - Cicadas

Unread post by GraemeWi »

I heard the first Cicada today - for me it's one of the classical sounds of the summer season.

Could other people post up when they hear the first Cicada of the summer season around NZ? It will be interesting to follow their emergence. They are quite an interesting insect!

First heard 31 October @ Waimauku (36°44.599' south)

Heard first one in Amberley last week - but we live in a very rural area, so we may be more likely to hear them early than in a town?
