Anyone know where I can find these online? For Saturday's map I normally cut it out of the Sunday Star Times, but I haven't had access to that paper lately, so I'd like to find them online. I do remember finding such a site with these maps, but that was last year, and I can't remember what it was.

The BoM in Oz have archived msl pressure charts on their website. NZ is towards the bottom right hand corner in these charts but none the less you can see NZ there.

http://www.bom.gov.au/nmoc/MSL/index.shtml

Use the link above and use Option 2. Leave it selected on Australia MSLP and then put in the time periods for which maps you want. Hope that helps. :)

Does the NZ metservice have online archived charts? I'm guessing you'd have to pay for it if you wanted one?

Thanks Aaron - turns out these charts were the ones I used before.

You can also access archived model data from the READY site - useful if you want to check on other parameters such as upper level temperature patterns following a thunderstorm ;-)

I was thinking of mentioning that but thought the BoM ones were a bit better, but yes the READY maps are also there. I find if you type -40.5, 173, 12 into the MAP DOMAIN boxes you can get a full view of NZ in the map area which could be usefull for MSLP maps but the resolution decreases for other things (just thinking, would it TonyT?:-k Decrease the resolution that is)

If you enter in -39, 173, 25 into the boxes you get an even bigger map!

Unfortunatley you can't pull up CAPE and LI charts from past days storms with READY (FNL) though, I guess in NZ CAPE and LI charts don't count for too much but then at times they can be usefull, would be interesting to see what they say anyway.

I used to draw my own weather amps but these days I can't be bothered and get the one off TVZoom for my diary :)

I plugged in a search on Google for the Pacific and got a bunch of crap. So I went to an old link I had, from when the US started to publlish reanalysed data from their archives and the site wouldn't open.

So back to Google again. Then I thought of reanalysis NewZealand

(What's that Alt+V bit at the end of the code for? (It opens my Favourites in AOL))
