End of Anticyclonic November/Possible Thunderous Summer?
This WE has a trough moving over us with some substantial rainfalls looking likely in central and northern areas of the North Island.
The weather here is starting to become intercourse-ingly boring and looks likely a drought scenario may settle in if we don't get substantial rainfall.
Sadly, I'm predicting a thunderstorm free summer for Canterbury with nothing happening (I hope I'm wrong)
I feel it is shaping up to be a summer of lots of cloud, NE breeses, clear fine days,NW bursts, statussy southerlies, whatever...
...nothing to deliver the goods to produce a good, Canterbury thunderstorm.
Sorry to be a Kill-joy, Aaron and Steve

I still have a 1 warning out since Wednesday, so anything could happen.
I noticed some unstable congestus out to the NW of here today.
The sea-fog has been at bay out over Pegasus Bay today but is moving in now.
As far as a thunderstorm free summer goes, and I stress, is that I hope I am wrong.
There is a 5 for the North Island over the next few days and for the west and NW areas of the South Island
I don't know about Canterbury for Tuesday?
Looking like a NW into a SW
Wait and see....stay tooond (as the Yanks would say)

Thunderstorms are not likely today but I have put out a 4 warning for tomorrow and possibly Tuesday, this depending on conditions and timing.
A 5 warning is in force for much of the North Island especially around the Auckland area. I have also given the Nelson area, a 1 as the deepening low passes over the area.

Just came back in from a nice little chase out as far as the back of Prebbleton where I recorded numerous lightning shots (CCs) on video.
Then went up to "Dunpaddock Rise" or whatever and saw some beautiful shots come down, possibly near you Graham.
AAron, I hope that you and Steve are away chasing.
Sky closing in again here and now coming onto rain.
Sfrerix on radio sounding quite wild, must go and investigate.
More later

Yes Aaron, you are right on this oneAaron J Wilkinson wrote:I remember you said something like this last year John and then there was storms! Don't chuck in the towl yet. As ricky said above, lightning strike out to the NW. Could be something on Mon or Tue?
I still have a 4 in force for tomorrow and then after that It looks like warm north-westerlies.
May get into the high twenties??
