I missed TV1 Weather (6.55 version) last night, which would've said something more about yesterday's cold blast, eg how low the maximum temps were, and probably shown shots of the snow near Dunedin. Surprisingly, today's nor yesterday's Chch Press didn't have anything about the thunderstorms and cold snap.

I've now created an animated GIF of Thursday's storm. It runs from 17:40 to 20:40 at a slightly slower speed than the previous one.

It's 103kB at http://www.templeton.gen.nz/images/041125storm.gif

As you can see, when the storm is very close or overhead it shows some correct strike locations as well as quite a lot of random stuff.
