Thanks very much guy's!

It was alot of fun.

Hopefully I'll have a report up etc as soon as I get the others done! Oh dear... More photo's to come plus stills from Steve's video camera. He aslo got some nice shots on his camera's movie mode.

I'd love to put up a few short clips of video with lightning and sound (with our reactions! LOL) but I don't have a dam clue about compression and all that type of stuff. I'm on a knife edge, I've nearly got it but at the same time I don't have a clue. You'll have to teach me Steven G one day.

Yes Jason, big Cu congestus outside. In a sense yeah! In another I wouldn't mind if nothing happened. Thundery looking but it may be too dry for something substantial to form, if anything it'll be coastal like like last night. Yes those strikes would be stirkes on the tracker, just way out at sea I guess.

I'm looking foward to getting a video camera to. And looking foward to the adventures to come!

Here's a really short clip. 396Kb in size. I've tried my best at compressing it etc but I still don't have much clue on what on earth I'm doing.

As a lightning bolt goes off we go nuts! Very short but ok.

I'll get one more up that is of an actual lightning bolt. The above one sounds funny though.

Edited: 3:33pm

Here's another one. It's 1.06Mb in size

Here's another longer one of that Holly Fa! clip. 1.44Mb

The 2nd storm came with some very bright flashes of sheet lightning to the north, plus more rain and hail, but the latter not as intense as in the 1st storm. Cleared quickly about 11.30PM - cloudless night after that.

Here's some stills from my Video camera. I've also got some small movies from my new digital camera which I'll have to sort out to!

Looks like you got some great footage last night, Stephen. Should be interesting viewing at a future NZTS/CWW meeting.

Will it need an "M: contains low level coarse language" warning ? :D

Great photos. :) Where were they taken, and in what direction is the camera pointing? The flashes from the 2nd storm (approx. 9.30-11.30PM) seemed to be mostly to the north of Akaroa Harbour

Heavy rain?

Unread post by Storm Struck »

Met service is picking up some heavy rain in south Canty on the radar.
Go into maps and Observations it should show you the latest from 10pm.
Cheers

That's a good one!

There's always some mystery pr#@k who seems to take lightning photo's from Chch when there's a storm about. I said a lightning photo would appear in the press in the days to come and it has. Now I'm jealous! :x

Wasn't Ian Kelly again was it?
