The metservice is giving unrealistic maximums in western areas ie 23 for Auckland tomorrow. They give 22's etc as highs and we lucky with 18 or 19.What about in the Herald with Whangarei 27 tomorrow. They must be dreaming :P

the hot air of australia must get to us soon
its a warm night here at the moment, 17.5oC at 11pm

if there is some sun about, and the wind goes NW, then Whangarei could get to that temperature

Must be muggy there in Auckland today.

Anyone having trouble with the metservice website or is it just me? I'm finding it's a bit slow.

Slightly muggy in Auckland with dp on 18C. Heavy low cloud with drizzle though. Might get a bit of sun this afternoon. If the sun gets out the temperature and humidity will rise.

I see in the Herald, Auckland had its sunniest November on record with 240hrs recorded. A bit of a catch up from the cloudy months we had earlier in the year.

As for Met Service temp forecasting, I understand they are churned out by a computer, not a forecaster. The biggest error in Auckland's temp forecasting is the overnight temps. Often their predictions are too low.

Yes, NZstorm, I notice when the Dew points are high in Auckland our forecast temp mins are often way out, too low.

I'm in Sydney. Yesterday the city got to 36.6C at 2pm before the sea breeze came in. The Western suburbs went up to 39.5C. We had alot of Lightning around the city last night. Took some Lightning photos from my hotel room but they are not great. Cooler today with the South Easterly here.

Whangarei is on 26c at the moment...

They are spot on with Napier's high today of 30c

I didn't realise that places like Waiouru, Wanganui, Palmerston North got the effects of a foehn wind... they are hotter than normal currently on a NW wind ;)
