The upper air sounding today indicates cloud tops to around 7000m
This cloud has glaciated into Cumulonimbus. Note the roll cloud at base.

This cap formed within an upper stable layer around 7000m.

It was weird today the upper wind looked N most of the time then around 930am we got a surface SW then it died away again-I thought it would get up to gale force but then it died away again-looking at the isobars but then it looked like we got "the nomans land weather" between the 2 highs and the westerly was furthur south
