Monday 3rd: Cloudy and dismal W'gton --> Levin, better near coast Bulls to Wanganui, sunny afternoon on coast in N Plymouth area north to cliffs (lots of cloud inland). 22deg max in city.
Tuesday 4th: Predicted rain did not start in NPlym until 10PM. Cloudy morning but afternoon again sunny in the same coastal areas, also along to Cape Egmont at least, by the looks.
Wed 5th: Light rain on and off all day, about 25mm for NP city.
Thurs 6th: Very little rain but lousy visibility with mist and a few bits of drizzle. NP Aero had temp range of just 0.6C in 24 hrs!
Fri 7th: Just cloudy, a little afternoon sun Hawera-Wanganui.
Sat 8th: Bright and quite clear around Wanganui-Bulls apart from some broken clouds - smallish cumulus, but wind picked up to strong between latter place and Foxton. Ominous vertical development to south
of Foxton, and funnel of low stratus rushing inland between Himatangi and Levin. That cleared but then erratic heavy showers further south, reverting to drizzle. THEN fiasco on Krapiti Coast roads south of Craparaumu - torrential downpours had apparanetly earlier loosened slips on SH1 and some other roads. 2.5 hours' delay getting to Wellington!
Still waiting for next week's anticyclone.
Augie Auer has been rabbiting on about solar cycles and expected coldness - apparently no-one told the Australians (2004 was Aust.'s 10th hottest year in 146 - hottest ever in Sydney), and the UK has had a mild December in another mild year for them.
Afew days in west of N Island this week - weather fiasco at

Maybe this global warming theory is having more of an effect in the Northern Hemisphere than down here...
