I see Queenstown only had a high of 5 degrees today. Max of 7.5 degrees here after a frost this morning followed by high cloud.

tomorrow for chch they are forecasting "high cloud but dry" as if high cloud normally brings rain. and also "northeasterlies freshening" which probably means plenty of low cloud too

Few spots of rain in last hour or two. Looks to be some more steady heavier rain west of CHCH around Darfield.

Some heavy rain/shower activity inland of Amberley currently. Still no measureable amount of rain here today. Looks like some areas around Canterbury may have had over 10mm today from localised falls.

Just gone from a light to moderate rain here now, radar shows its coming across from the NW but the wind is southerly at ground level.

It was indeed cold and drizzly in Ashburton all day; and apparently ditto here in Mayfield.

Well looking long range it would seem a southerly outbreak mid next week but very brief and not much precipitation. Looks like a big high moving in mid next week pushing it off east quickly and keeping a subtropical low around Australia's east coast. Wonder when we will get a decent southerly rain maker in Canterbury. The weather has been a non eevent here since before our first earthquake in September

This is true but I would like to see some sort of action in our weather here. (Not a skier either by the way) I am not missing the frosts at all, would like to see some beefy winter showers at times though, something just a little different

For the sake of the folk in ChCh with damaged homes and no heating I hope the mild dry weather continues until 2012
