Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
The gauge at north cape sure is dropping big time....looking bigger than we have had recently?
ok, bottomed out at 0.8m maybe drop in sea level?

Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
nothing recorded at east cape....so far...which was probably the tell tell for it all being cancelled (still though to take note of unusual currents/tides (heck the manukau has 0.5 m higher yesterday due to storm surge conditions)

Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
I see Gt barrier island is getting some small changes in sea level
I suspect that North cape is also being affected by the storm conditons on the west coast

Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
Quite a not active event really, although I wonder how long it takes with events like this before people stop following warnings and a "bigger" tsunami hits.

Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
I'm sure we'll see a big tsunami from the pacific hit NZ in the next 50 years and that some 'smart' people will be at the beach collecting driftwood or taking pictures.

Re: Magnitude 7.6 - Kermadec Islands Region
Computed propagation of the July, 2011 Kermadec tsunami.
Also, Maximum Amplitudes Plot from NOAA Tsunami Research Centre. Note that orientation of the quake’s fault rupture was north-south, so most of the tsunami's energy was radiated west-east.
