humm, the next lot of showers is going to pass just to the north of me now..seems to have stopped moving SE and is moving more ESE....and I will be in a gap between shower bands....not that we need any more rain!
and it has weakened , that shower area approacing the auckland area...lightning strike rate is dropping away

interesting, M/S have it that this active zone will become more active as it moves further east..
temperature and DP has dropped here now, so threat of sig CB activity has dropped here for me now I would suspect
wind dir has not changed yet, that must be with the next shower line still to come in..
Vertigo, that will be the same one that Waiuku got

Flooding rains in the Waikato. Not overly heavy but ground can't take anymore. All drains to north of Hamilton were flooded thismorning and rain continuing to fall

That shower line just gave Howick a heavy downpour and a brief SW change with gusts near 50km/h, turning lighter WNW again now...
It sure looked ominous as it approached!

We could possibly add the 15th onto this thread. Could be our last thunder risk day for a while. We have a polar airmass spreading onto the North Island with 500mb temps dropping to -30C over Auckland by the middle of the day. While the airmass is dry, instability weak there should still be enough support for scattered hail, isolated thunderstorms/squalls 50kts in the west of Auckland/Waikato today.

There is a short wave in the SW flow, currently seen over the top of the SI in the satellite pic.

Brief heavy shower here, there were tiny bits of hail mixed in with the rain. Wind has gone WNW at the moment, strangely...
