Good photos
here's a couple of photos I took around the Lindis pass area a week ago. Not much snow for the time of year. The sunny areas where completely snowless below 1400m.

Gavin Treadgold (rediguana) a friend of Steven & mine has released this photo of the Aurora in full HD for people who wish to use it as a desktop.
Gavin Treadgold wrote:I've had an unexpected amount of interest in this image, so I've uploaded a post-processed version that is suitable for desktop use to 1080p/1920x1080 resolution. I've also licensed this version under Creative Commons. Enjoy! Cheers Gav

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Thanks for the promotion Neill
Amongst the sites I've been sharing this photo with, I hadn't yet thought of the WeatherForum. Naughty me! Yes, had quite a bit of interest in this, including a lot of requests for it as a desktop image. All frames were 20s, 1600 iso, f2.8, 16mm and were taken with a Canon 5D3 and a Canon 16-35f2.8L II lens. Timelapse covers around 4 hours from 2130 Sunday 15 July to 0120 Monday 16 July. Site was the Gibraltar Rock car park on the Summit Road looking south over Lake Ellesmere.

There is also a 450-frame timelapse available here, HD versions on YT.

The foggy conditions create good photo opportunities at night when you use a torch!

Re: Picture(s) of the day
My zoom telephoto's first light out Lake Ellesmere yesterday. I wish I didn't get cramps in the legs and stay a little longer, but as I want a 1.4x teleconverter before I go out again it's all good.
