Re: Picture(s) of the day
I've been lurking here for a while enjoying the weather talk. I have a passion for action photography and dramatic weather events certainly fit into this genre. Here's a shot taken during a storm a few weeks ago over the Manukau Harbour, looking south from Blockhouse Bay....

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Thanks Nev, not infra-red, HDR processing in Lightroom, B&W conversion. The actual out of camera images was bright purple.. Thinking of heading out there again shortly to see if I can repeat, there's a fair bit of weather zooming past the cliff tops tonight...

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Currently in Europe, I noticed these clouds a couple of nights ago near Llanca in northeastern Spain. I'm facing ESE (towards the center of western Mediterranean Sea), the surface wind was light and from behind me (low hills) but I have no idea what it was like at mid or high levels. I can't remember if on the same day we had lenticular clouds all day or not ...

Re: Picture(s) of the day
A great deal of tstorms over the French Alps the last couple of days (and more to come apparently), I couldn't chase any but happened to be lucky on my way back home yesterday.

Lots of rain while shooting, hence the black dots visible on the pictures ...

I took a nice photo of a "Cloud-bow" looking to the south around noon today with my new camera but I don't know how to download it onto here, sadly.

Some high cirrus getting blown along, while it's quite still on the ground. I couldn't capture the whole expanse of it but this is the centre of a wide fan of wispy streams

Re: Picture(s) of the day
First try at shooting fireworks, couldn't be bothered doing it from town at wide angle in the middle of the crowd so I went on the Hills and used my telephoto instead.
Out of all the shots I selected and combined a few together, and this one (5 x 1" exposures) from mainly the end of the show looks pretty nice.
