TROPICAL CYCLONE TECHNICAL BULLETIN: AUSTRALIA - EASTERN REGION
Issued by BRISBANE TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE
at: 0050 UTC 14/03/2013
Name: Tropical Cyclone Tim

REMARKS:
DT4.0 based on curved band of 1.1 on VIS at 2332UTC. SSMIS 85GHz at 1953UTC
supports this structure and 39 knot observed mean wind at Bougainville Reef at
7am EST confirms strengthening trend. MET and PAT give 3.5, with a constrained
FT of 3.0 based on restriction of 0.5 change in 6 hours. 2306UTC Ascat shows
strong gales to the west of LLCC.

Deep layer steering flow is consistently NW through depth for the next few days
provided by monsoon flow and upper trough over eastern Australia.

The system lies in a region of NW shear, which should steadily increase over the
next 2 to 3 days. This is likely to slow further development, and lead to
weakening from Saturday onwards. Following this period, weakening of the upper
trough and development of low level ridging to the south should push the remains
of the system, most likely below tropical cyclone strength, westwards towards
the Queensland coast.
