SPC have a moderate risk for southern USA tomorrow. They have a 15% tornado risk.

Checking GFS looks like a fairly intense squall line will develop. The wind fields are nuts with 50kts just above the surface.

Storms with very low shear like that tend to develop very fast, quite often with little warning time to locals, bad situation!

Drought predictions for the USA out to the end of April.

Points to a weaker than normal tornado season in 2013. But have to watch and see how things shape up moisture wise, its too early in the year to get negative on the storm chasing chances in May.

The chances of getting a very poor season like last year are low. No two seasons are the same.

Heavy snow last week over the southern/central plains will help ease the drought situation in tornado alley.

The climate outlook for March looks somewhat positive for the start of the chase season with average precip/temps most probable.

Joel and Reed from what I have seen have a very volatile relationship, Joel has actually quit 2 times before.

I have a suspicion he will quit again..... eventually. Reed seems to be a very difficult person to get along with.
Literally kicking out Joel mid chase in 2011 was really low.

Chris who I would say as more the chilled out personality of the group joined around 2008 and then quit and moved back to his home state in December 2012.
There is certainly a disfunction in the group (I have a suspicion who's causing it).

This is interesting. Average number of tornado watches issued per year for the last 20years.

Dixie Alley has had the highest number.

What is the chance of tornado or waterspout activity in Florida ? I be there mid May till mid June. Planning to visit the Keys. Will spend most time in Orlando, or Miami.

Seems to be working for them, almost at $75,000 now

Yes RODALCO, the Florida coastline does see quite a few waterspouts, they get a lot of towering Cu.
I think we get quite a few waterspouts around NZ, a case of being in the right place at the right time to see them.

Looking like a multi-day severe weather event (tornadoes) over the southern states next week. Starting about Tuesday (Monday in the US) by the looks.
