That's a nice Cb on the sat pics, hope there's some pics from someone?
Today was another non event down this way, not unstable enough? no tirgger? I'm not sure, perhaps not enough moisture at the surface I think would be a main factor.
Hopefully you guy's get some more stuff tomorrow, looking foward to hearing the reports.
I got quite a few pics.. cant believe how big it grew in the end...
It was an unusual storm for me in that there was a very high frequency of ligtning, but none was very large.. all short c-c as much as I could see..
anyway here is a quick selection before I go to bed been a long but fun day!

Thanks for the reports on that storm Ricky. I like the photos, the last one which shows a gust front is outstanding.
The storm was triggered by convergence between a low level northerly (sea breeze induced) coming in from the the Bay of Plenty coast and a general southerly over land. I guess there is a slight risk of a repeat performance later today over the same area.
Thanks spwill
sorry yes I just quickly grabbed a few and compressed them.. it was quite late by the time I got back home but i wanted to get something up...
Today looks more stable than yesterday. Hardly a cloud in the sky over Auckland at the moment.
Both the Rotorua district and east Otago are the regions of NZ most prone to summertime convective buildups. Otago has had an eventful season this year while Rotorua has been very stable.
Edited a pic showing the cb's along the East Coast ranges. The yellow cross is my location, there must be smaller ones popping up as I can see them from my place.

that was a very abrupt stop to the lightning yesterday.. went from about one flash per second to nothing in about 5 minutes! and just as the sky was almost dark too, seemed to coincide with a much faster NW movement of the system
