A Blocking high

Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

Looks as though we are going to have a Blocking high over us for much of next week so that means any interesting weather looks very unlikely
Anyone for chess?

Best as in warmest? I guess the northern 1/4 of the country didn't do all that well in 2001 and 2003 when many other areas went into a long dry patch.

East coast areas from Canterbury north may get low cloud from that high due to an onshore flow.

Yes, I think this summer is shaping up to be our best since 1999 (in the north here atleast). :)

Hopefully we won't be getting a repeat of the sticky easterly/northeasterly that plagued many northern and east coast areas recently - in Chch we're not used to such humid weather.

Better surely than the cold NE flows - my late father used to simply refer to "that damned easterly".
