Re: Tasman Low- Storms and Rain - 4th to 9th Nov
Here's this morn's T-Storm Outlook update for today (much the same as yesterday's)…
MetService - Severe Thunderstorm Outlook
Valid to: Midnight Wednesday 6 Nov 2013
Issued at: 8:43am Wednesday 6 Nov 2013
A front extending eastnortheast from Waikato through the Bay of Plenty is expected to move slowly south today. Convergence associated with this front and sea breezes, along with an unstable atmosphere due to cold temperatures aloft is expected to trigger showers over much of the central and upper North Island.
There is a moderate risk of thunderstorms in the Bay of Plenty this morning. These storms could be accompanied by heavy rain and hail. There is also a risk of strong wind gusts and small tornadoes are possible.
There is a moderate risk of thunderstorms this afternoon from Waikato to the north of Taranaki, the central North Island high country and the Gisborne and Hawkes Bay ranges. These storms could be accompanied by heavy rain, strong wind gusts and hail.
A trough is expected to move south onto the far north of Northland this afternoon. There is a moderate risk of thunderstorms there with heavy rain and hail.
There is a low risk of thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail over the remainder of the central and northern North Island as indicated on the map.
Elsewhere, no thunderstorms expected.

That tcu now looks to be a weak Cb. The only thing on the radar is that cell close to you Brian (over the other side of the harbor inlet). So it must be that.
Tomorrows outlook looks better than todays.

I wish the rain to my east would stop developing and let more sun light across the basin. Seems to be stationary and continually developing.

This watch affects people in the following weather forecast districts:
Auckland
Waikato
Waitomo
Thunderstorms are expected to develop in Auckland, Waikato and Waitomo this afternoon. There is a risk that some of these could be slow moving and accompanied by downpours, 20 to 35mm/hr and hail.
Rainfall of this intensity can cause flash flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips. Driving conditions will also be hazardous with surface flooding and poor visibility in heavy rain.
Note: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. People in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for possible Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
Issued by: Hordur Thordarson
This watch will be updated by: 08:00 pm Wednesday 06 November 2013
