US Storm Chasing 2014

Unread post by Peter »

Hi there - if you're thinking of going storm chasing in the US in 2014, check out this - www.stormgroupchasers.com - a unique, collaborative approach to a storm chase tour.

We’ve built up a pretty impressive track record in the first 3 seasons, with 22 visual tornado sightings including some major EF5 tornados – and have been on some major outbreaks, including the Joplin, La Crosse, Kingfisher, Ault, Moore, Carney/Shawnee, El Reno & Hutchinson events.

In 2013, we chased <and caught> severe storms on 34 out of the 43 days spent on the Plains – a great season.

If you’re interested come join us in 2014 – or maybe convince someone else that they should have this unique experience with a great collaborative, personalised tour. <please share this email with your Contacts if that’s ok>.

It's a non-commercial offering, essentially run on a shared costs basis, so much more value for your $ - check out the testimonials from 2013, and the chase summaries to see what a fabulous vacation you've been missing - only 5 spots left on the 2014 tours.

SPC have a slight risk of severe weather for central southern USA tomorrow. I don't think its much of a set up but I post a forecast sounding for Mississippi. Notice that although it's still winter there, their low level temps and dewpoints are comparable to ours in February! Warm advection off the Gulf of Mexico.

I have booked tour 2 and 3 with Roger Hill and will be chasing the beginning of May 2014, after my 3 day train trip from Los Angeles via San Antanio to Oklahoma.
Tour 4 was booked out unfortunately.

Hey Rodalco - why didn't you book with a Kiwi chaser, cheaper and a better experience? :-) http://www.stormgroupchasers.com

The Kiwi dollar is strong at moment so a good time to book a trip. Rising interest rates should keep our dollar strong.

Yea but the bloody rising interest rates will be what keeps me from going any time soon. My home loan is fixed for a couple years but once that comes off I'm going to be hammered!

In your opinion maybe.
Who the heck are you to question his decision?
Don't go ramming your tour group down our throats.

There are a number of NZers who chase with Roger Hill. He has quite a loyal following.

I see most of Roger's 2014 season tour is sold out now.

We saw him arrive at a lot of the cells we were on. Far more than certain other groups, so I would consider touring with him if I was going to do a commercial tour.

He also seemed pretty friendly when I talked with him.

Roger's a good guy - and really successful at targeting - I always know we're in the right area when we cross paths :-)

Yea roger is very good and really good at teaching. But jeez hes expensive. But worth it in my opinion. I'd also be keen on doing it in a car with one or two others again.

That's awesome. I like how it just kept going and created its own life in a way. I fed off itself by creatin intense fire at its centre.

For the record, since I've fielded a couple of calls. Renegade Chasers is not chasing in the US this year. We are hoping to get most of the group together again over there in 2015. I won't be going earlier next year like I did last year. I'm thinking go over around 10th May come back about 11th June.

Spwill and I are looking at a 10 day chase in May this year.

Looks to be the first set up of the season in the pipeline for early April according to gfs.

You guys kept that quiet. Good luck, certainly a good time to be going. We were gutted those first few weeks last year when it never warmed up and we only had a couple of low risks.

A nice tornado over northern California yesterday, just north of Scaremento.

The tornado occurred within a polar airmass.
