From USA TODAY: Meteorologist guided friend to safety through texts

Alicia Jenkins fixed her eyes on television, hoping tornadoes would miss Madison, Miss., where her parents lived. The 33-year-old teacher at Brandon Elementary School here got a text over her iPhone: 'Large tornado near Richland!'

"It is a monster," he wrote. "Stay there a little longer."

Astounding Baltimore street collapse

Friends in the US storm chasing community have been known to park on this street. Luckily none of them were at this time.

Made it to Oklahoma after an 11.5 hour boring flight and 48 hour very interesting train trip ( Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer ) via Mexican Border.
Start chasing tomorrow. Weather is warm and dry, maybe a few quiet days before tornadic action will happen. will keep you all posted

Hi, I landed in Los Angeles.
We had 2 quiet days as the heat is abour 97 - 100°F 37 - 38°C Very hot and dry. Not enough instability at the moment, but that will change tomorrow.
Dewpoint 59%
Strong Southerly moist air flowing in
Dryline forming West of Texas, Oklahoma Kansas & Nebraska.
See what happens over the next few days.
We have been eating great American food.
Big wild fire Guthrie, North of Oklahoma city.
Will keep you updated.
Greetings from Wyndham Gardens Hotel OKC

It seems the excitement is building for Thursday over there (Friday morning here). Jealous, looking forward to chasing myself and a decent American steak again.

Look forward to reading your reports (My only opportunity for an arm chair chase is this Sunday now as the get ready to go workload is building).

Good luck Rodalco, let us know how your getting on over there.

I think when I go to the states chasing, I'm probably going to turn vegetarian. (FOOD INC)....

Hi guys, did chase yesterday in Texas near route 281 and Whitchita Falls up to Graham and Decateur. Couple of nice high based supercells there.
Two small funnels were seen and a tiny landspout which I captured on video I put photo's on facebook, look under my name. ( will upload to the forum when I have spare time )
Did 488 miles ( 700 km ) Based in OKC at the Wyndham Gardens.
The conditions look better today while the dryline is all the way from the West Dakota's to Texas. I think we may be going South but we know when we have our 11 AM meeting shortly with Roger.

BTW while on the train in New Mexico and Texas I saw four dust devils, and the train drove through one while the tumbleweeds were bashing the train windows. I was in the dining car and not expecting it and a few seconds too late to grab my camera.

A storm already developing on the dryline over West Texas! I guess with the hot weather the cap is going to break easily today.

I see Tempest tours got a nice supercell over Wyoming yesterday.

Looks like another 3 days of active weather before a Canadian high moves in and clears out the moisture for the week!

Supercell index for day 3 which is Sunday local.

Early days but I think that moisture clear out is going to have an impact on atleast the beginning of our trip, I see dewpoints are still forecast to be low over the Gulf of Mexico next weekend.
Snow for Denver tomorrow.

Back again in Oklahoma.
Since my last post from Texas, we travelled 1100 Miles North to Minnesota to see a cone tornado briefly touch the ground near Nicolette / Sleepy-Eye townships. Very nice structure, captured it all on video. Then back South to Harrissonville, Missouri, for re-positioning and were treated with multiple storm supercells and had another two tornadoes, One caused some damage in Orrick, MS, no people injuries, and the other was in the fields an was a wedge tornado partial rain wrapped. Then a 7 hour drive back to OKC, fantastic lightning display in Kansa near El-Dorado for change of tours today. We are chasing today in Western Oklahoma and Southern Kansas. Got it all on HD video. took some photo's. which I will post later. Tour 3 has an early start today, instead of 6 O'clock meeting. two O clock chasing.

Will do, as I know him from the Joplin 2011 tour.
