Sleet erased from the FC here which really isn't a surprise, far too warm & windy for anything like that.. just going to be a messy mix of showers.

Received about 5 seconds of snow here. No moisture was the recurring theme in the models proved correct. Looks like Bp should see a bit of snow over night.
I see cwu going for 3-5cm in the city tonight. It will be cold enough for snow, just how much or will it say over Bp

Some reasonably heavy snow at work (500m elevation) here. Big flakes that have started to settle.
Just some sleety rain in Reefton itself.

Just had another real heavy shower, transformed everything to white, huge flakes, real issues for the hill suburbs but most people have made it in to work here, looks like more to come looking to the SW

Plenty more to come for you in Dunedin... what sort of depths are there at the moment. More to come for ChCh later on this evening... could be good...

Here in Rakaia all we got this morning was the very very light snow flurries. Brilliant fine sunny morning up in Methven. Would love to wake up to sea level snow here tomorrow morning. We're meant to be going into the city tomorrow but I told hubby it's suppose to snow later tonight. Good wind chill here and quite grey looking over to the SW. Lovely to have no rain so the grass can dry out again. So with tonights cold blast any chance of us seeing it here on the Canterbury plains? What does everyone reckon? How is Monday/Tuesday next week looking now?

Metservice going for snow to 300m on the peninsula in its watch.
Maybe some minor stuff will creep over into in town but I'm not at all convinced on this

Re: Potential sea level snow 7/8th Plus low snow next week
Yes i agree with you on that. It all depends on how far inland the shower activity comes. Could be some deep shower clouds too which should help precip levels. It will be one of those watch the radar and compare the temps kind of nights for me i think.Razor wrote:Metservice going for snow to 300m on the peninsula in its watch.

Winds turned back to the SW and strengthened bringing very dry air with a dewpoint below -4C.

Tony are you thinking now Thursday might be more promising then Tuesday for low level snow? Models are now hinting at Thursday being the day?TonyT wrote:Dont get too hung up on the timing at this stage.
