Looks like you have some supernumerary arcs in that shot Richard !Richard wrote:This mornings sunrise

And no rainbows in this photo, just Venus and the Moon the other morning.

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Digging through my archived shots I came across the ones I took from Coopers Lagoon while Mike, Jase (?), Steve and Aaron experienced a tornado/spout/funnel further down the coast (shake that car babeh !). And these sorta-long-ish exposure ones with the ND filter look interesting once you push contrasts and light levels to some extremes.
A bit too dark in the foreground on the second one imho, but I can't show the showers and cloud structures otherwise ...

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Meant to comment earlier on that pic of Venus and the Old Moon - there was a very pretty sky that morning
Great effects of texture and movement in the two photos above.

Late afternoon yesterday looking west from near Invercargill airport. Calm at and near the ground, then inversion and gentle NW wind blowing smoke perfectly horizontally.

Re: Picture(s) of the day
I went out to Lake Emma (Ashburton Lakes) last night and took some photos. And if it wasn't for a weird thin layer of mid or high level "stuff" turning the sky's background all orange-ish it would have been perfect !

Re: Picture(s) of the day
Tried something new yesterday (only new for me, it's been around for ages), time-consuming at first but hopefully for the next one it will go faster. I was wondering how I could use such panoramic view during a storm chase, I don't quite know yet but will defo try !

Taken on April 19th, 2014, seen from a yacht on the Hauraki Gulf looking towards the Bombay Hills.
Interesting to see three funnels at the same time.

Looks like they may have been been taken around the SE Waiheke/Ponui Is. area? (Any wider shots?)
That was around the time (or just after) ex-TC Ita brought T-storms and caused havoc around the country, including reported T-Storms around the Nth Waikato/Thames area that day.

Hi Marin and welcome to the forum.MarinPitton wrote:Hi guys!

If you like, there is introductory thread in the Off Topic section called, Who are you guys?
I'm sure you won't be disappointed by NZ's landscapes, particularly in the South Island, although there probably won't be any snow left in February. Maybe the odd thunderstorm in the south or an extratropical cyclone in the north though.I'm a weather and landscape photographer and found this forum on internet because I'm coming to Auckland in February 2015 for five weeks hopefully to capture come great landscapes of south and north island..
Unfortunately, the default format of this forum can only display externally linked images up to 660 pixels wide, before they get cropped to one side. So I've made your images 'clickable' so that they can be viewed full-frame.oh..i did something wrong in upload...can you direct me how to upload to make photo visible as it is..?
Another option is to upload your images directly to the forum as an 'attachment'. Tim has created a thread in the New Zealand Weather & Climate section entitled Posting Images, which may be of some help.
