Agathis australis is the Kauri tree, I have a small one and would like to take cuttings..
At this stage i'm trying to grow Griselina Littoralis, Pseudopanix lessonii, Sophora micrpophylla (kowhai) and Phormiums and Cordylines.

Ah the mighty Kauri. Cutting can be grown form the younger plants and is usually the easiest way of propagating this species.C-Nimbus wrote:hey Jason, cheers for the reply,

Slip stabilisation for a landslide and was done in the early 90’s. The graffiti slogan read “ Hands off Beaumont “in relation to another Hydro dam planed down stream. The team of environmentalists were never caught, and was well done as it was not an easy task, especially when done at night.GraemeWi wrote:Hey Andy,
question for you on your region - on the highway between Clyde and Cromwell you can see a large dark coloured structure (looks like a large area of brown bricks or blocks) on the side of the hill on the opposite side of Lake Dunstan to the highway - looks to recently have had some graffiti removed off it... what is it?
I saw it a couple of times but never saw reference to it anywhere.
Cheers,

Ah cheers for the explanation - I'd wondered if it was some sort of monument or something. I guess the highway and the dam are monument enough!Andy wrote:Slip stabilisation for a landslide and was done in the early 90’s. Quite cool, I didn't relise there were so many rails in the Southland / Otago area. Definately somewhere to go and visit at some point. And some of the lines are still running even though in a touristy sense. Ever been down there John and been on the trains???!!
Looking foward to future episodes.
Yeah that railway branched off at Balclutha/Finegand and headed towards a place called Tahakopa. closed in 1971. It was built to extend to another branch that extended out from Invercargill towards Tokanui bit it never eventuated. The main railway had a easier route through Clinton/Gore to Invercargill03 Stormchaser wrote:Took this photo of an old train tunnel when down holidaying down in the catlins: think its part of the catlins railway, we bought a book on it, very good read, Seen it John?
