A shame Queenstown missed out on hosting a game, I think they should have played a game or two in Queenstown.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
The next Black Caps game is in Wellington on friday, looking like the weather shouldn't be an issue.

I hate the way the GFS is playing around with precip at the end of the month over northern NZ. It would be very unfortunate for the Black Caps/Aussie game to get rained off.

It makes the Scotland England game look like it could be interesting!

England didn't even test the floodlights! Looked like a lovely sunny day. How warm was it in Wellington?

Hopefully the Australian team doesn't bring Cyclone Marcia over to NZ with them for the game in Auckland on Saturday
but current modelling has a ridge over northern NZ.

Thanks Steven - it looked very bright on the TV pictures with an almost clear blue sky. Let's hope the weather stays fine for the next few weeks.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
The weather for Eden Park on Saturday looks good at this stage, it should be dry on current modelling and the day looks warm.
Some humid troughing to the north of NZ is perhaps something to watch, hopefully the ridge will hold that trough out as it has done for much of the year.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Heres hoping the Auckland weather comes to the party. The only washed out game this whole summer in NZ has been in Auckland.
Having said that is the NZ team is 72/6 chasing 300 off 14 overs we'd be happy for a washout and no result declared

A reflection of the dry Summer around NZ and always a bit of luckRazor wrote:Heres hoping the Auckland weather comes to the party. The only washed out game this whole summer in NZ has been in Auckland.
We can promise warm weather in Auckland but not dry however the year has been dry so far
The Brisbane game on Sat got washed out so Australia will be keen for a hit out this Saturday
The Black Caps did well to find rain in Auckland in January with 309hrs sunshine and only 9mm for the month

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
The worst thing that could happen on Saturday is a brief shower. But does look fine.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
I notice there is a trend in both the GFS and ECMWF for the Auckland region to be clear of the afternoon shower risk on Saturday. Afternoon showers looking possible Thursday and Friday

Phew... no if we can just organise for another of Aussies remaining games to be washed out, there is a slim chance they might not qualify for the playoffs.....NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Hooray, we won.![]()

It will be a fine day in Perth tomorrow for Australias next game.
When chasing a small total I think the Black Caps should play a more conservative game and less about entertaining cricket but the close finish on Saturday made it a game to remember

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Looks okay for the Black Caps quarterfinal game in Wellington. Pre frontal conditions for Saturday so increasing cloud and a northerly wind and the chance of some late light precipitation but at this stage the weather is looking dry, GFS.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Good news is rain plays into our hands as we qualified first. Assuming we make the semi (lets not count chickens though, West Indies aren't going to roll over) then the Auckland weather could do us a big favour and rain for two days middle of next week, thus avoiding South Africa and heading straight to the final....
If only it were that easy.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Tuesdays weather for Eden Park looking like it should be okay. A slight risk of a shower depending on how quickly an upper trough moves away.
