Might run into Foggy next few days

Big big lightning show on our drive through to Amarillo this evening, 3cm size hail stones observed SW of Lubbock.

Sorry to hear about your camera, hope it's not terminal.

I'm up at Dayton Hamvention (Ohio). Have a mean flight day on Monday, leaving on a 6am Delta Flight via Atlanta back to LAX, scheduled 2 hr 5 min to get bag, change terminals, check in bag and clear security for a United flight to Oklahoma. Hope it pans out ok.

Hope to bump into some of you at some point

Oklahoma City has had its second wettest May on record as of the 15th! Very wet over here, the storms are dumping huge amounts of rain. The lightning last night was intense and makes a trip to the US worthwhile. Something you want see in NZ.

I was watching the lightning tracker last night, was going nuts across TX and OK!

We are targeting I40 south today in Oklahoma. A decent chance of a tornado today if clouds can break up to increase surface based instability. So far today just very cloudy skies and limited heating. DPs look good though.

That's where we would have rather targeted, but we had to have a hotel in Sidney, Nebraska on the 15th after storms as I was very fatigued from so much driving. So we chased just south of the Oklahoma panhandle yesterday and storms were rather linear there.

We chased a classic supercell right near Sidney on the 15th and that was pretty good with almost a touching down tornado and several well-defined funnels.

In Woodward, OK and might as well just drive south today and maybe catch a storm... Otherwise it looks the action will be in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas for the next couple of days after.

We are in North Norman overnight and likely to make a run down into Texas today. Models etc still to be looked at and final decisions made. Unfortunately my plane had mechanical problems and was very late leaving LAX and getting in to OKC.

Had a great supercell over Pecos region yesterday. (Far SW Texas). Road was covered in deep hail upto golfballs.

Been on two crackers the last two days in Pecos and Crane counties. Steven, must have been on the same storm on Monday.

Hanging around Sanderson, TX today near the Mexican border! Will check out Big Bend NP shortly.

We had an epic storm at Witchita Falls last night around midnight with lightning every second and 55mm in the hour. 85mm overnight. I see up to 200mm at Seymour to the south. Leaving W F this morning the main route to Dallas was closed due flooding.

I would have thought this amount of snow this late in May was pretty weird. Maybe it would have been more so if it was out E Nebraska. Getting pretty close to a record wet May in OK!

I think this season has been a bit unusual with much of the storm activity still hanging over the southern plains, very wet now for much of the southern plains. Continues mostly cool/ stable for the central/ northern plains.
A couple of photos from recent days. Hail in photo is near golf ball size.

We were close to you last night, stopped for the mandatory post tornado steak at Wichita Falls Texas Roadhouse, before continuing further South staying overnight in Abilene.

Have seen various structure, but it's been hard going, only one tornado thus far. Finding accomodation last night was a real challenge on this holiday (Memorial) weekend. Didn't intend to, but have had to stay the night in Amarillo TX in a hotel room that wasn't cheap. The others are in another hotel, last rooms in both.

Caught up with Willoughby the night before and had dinner. Steak of course

Very little in the way of photo's, it's such a wet season, it's been proving very challenging.

First day here and we chased from Denver, now spending the night in Garden City. Had a good day considering we didn't get into the Lamar storm early enough as we had to spend time getting internet set up. Spotted two funnels in Arlington CO, was nice as there wasn't a single other chaser in sight. Had to sit round for a while on our second storm as we weren't keen to core punch it to get east and in front of it. Caught some great structure and near none stop lightning.

Staying in Garden center tonight, were currently under a tornado watch, TV report mile wide further south on the ground.
