A great season for the NZ storm chaser but I'm picking the US chasers will be finding this season a bit too messy, too many storms firing too early in the day, a lot of MCS rain events, the big wet.

I wouldn't say a great season. But it most certainly is different to the 2013 trip. We've had fun today punching through the line of storms several times, quite confidently as they weren't tornado warned and only had small hail.

Chased KS today, very messy storms. Did witness one lowering with a funnel cloud, but once that disappointed that was it. Ended the day shooting lightning. Meet up with Willo tonight for dinner at Applebee's!

W OK it is tomorrow

I heard on the radio a report of a tornado killing 19 in Mexico. Northern Mexico has a reputation for big supercells.

On our trip we had supercells on 10 days of the 14 we chased. On most days the storms produced the classic structures you associate with supercells.

Good to catch up with Willoughby, Steve & a heck of a lot of other Au & NZ chasers under the anvil of an angry supercell in Texas today.

Stayed in Granbury TX overnight where we saw an EF4 Tornado on 15th May 2013 on my last trip here.

We need to head back North to Norman OK tonight for a commitment there tomorrow morning, so not sure what today will bring at this stage.

Love the green tinge to that storm in that last photo. A bit murkey underneath.... was that dust or precip?

Congrats to all on successful Tornado chase.
Looks like the system has turned into a MCS around northern Texas, insane amounts of Lightning getting detected.

The Modis Images look Interesting for the Day:

Looks like earlier in Initiation, but some of the storms look like Nuc bomb has gone off.
