good idea as all of these muppet kids sucking on balloons all nite is not a good image
Muppet kids, brilliant! Up there with John's Noddy Train, lol.

I've had NOS once when I got a fish hook right up in my thumb past the barb and they used a scaple and cut it out after they gave my two injections in my thumb (5 years ago?). I started singing jingle bells at the top of my lungs in the hospital, everyone could hear! Funny at the time but I don't like it, makes you fell dizzy.. :? :-S

prove it?? dont think it quite does that and nos only effects a user for about 30sec to a couple of minutes
with pleasure....

Hospital grade NOS is not Nitrous Oxide by itself, it is a blend of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen (approx 50:50 i think). This has the effect of allowing the Nitrous to do its "Knock-out" thing while still delivering Oxygen to the brain. Therefore it is better for you....this is why in a hospital situation you can have as much as you want....it is in fact very safe in this form. You can if you feel so inclined try this over and over again with limited side effects.

Corner dairy grade NOS is completely different. I see what your saying about the 30 sec's to 1 minute thing can't be that bad, but may I point out that if a user sniffs petrol or inhales the contents of an aerosol can, the effect also only lasts a couple of seconds.....but we all know what the consequences are. Cocaine is another interesting one as its effects only last for about 30 minutes.....still not good for you tho.

So anyway when you gulp down your balloon of NOS from the dairy, you are starving the brain of oxygen.....this has the detrimental effect of killing off brain cells....which can then lead to whats known as Stochastic effects, ie effects that take a number of years to appear but are a function of the lifestyle. Expect to see some mental effects from heavy users, I would also like to suggest the earlier onset of Parkinsons and Alzheimers etc, could be linked to over-recreational use of NOS.

This is why it WILL put a strain on the health system. You and I will be paying for these munters that might as well be sniffing petrol.

In saying that tho, you and I will also be paying for fat kids who sit in front of the playstation all day drinking V and eating Burger King. When they become type 2 diabetic and have all sorts of heart problems and end up in the public hospitals who do you think pays the bill? You and I will also paying for smokers, alcoholics, fast food junkies...the list goes on

Like you pointed out 03SC, the high only lasts for 30 secs, so why do it?

What I have seen with people is the 30 sec thing isn't enuff, so they have another, and another, and another, before long they've had 2 or 3 boxes and their lips are going blue (once again showing the signs of a lack of oxygen to the brain) and they feel a bit heady blah de blah....thats not a good stage to be at. Meanwhile there little 1 hour long binge has cost them about $30.....pfffft!

I even saw a guy once do two cannisters at once and then pass out and hit his head on the floor.....man he looked real cool after that...NOT!

Anyway, if you do want to do it, try mixing it with food grade oxygen, it'll be better for you, and you can do more.....but really whats the point.

Hope that answers your Q :)

All what you say there might as well be said about alcohol, and they arent going to ban Alcohol.

Yes people can over do NOS but agin thats the same about anything like this, also is there actually proof that there are long term effects of NOS use??

We stopped watching television because of a) the "Reality Shows" and b) the fact that we could only get the National Party Channel (TV One) and the Moron's Channel (TV Toe).

Thread's getting away from the weather. I suppose you might want to discuss experiencing storms while under the influence of drugs, but I don't think I'll go there. .

Anyway back to the original topic. Jim was great, but I guess like most celebrities, they look forward to being able to walk the streets without everyone noticing them.

I only watch it for the weather aspect. The engines sound like thunder, there is frequently a lightning bolt painted on the side of at least one vehicle, and they sometimes have good wet weather tires. Oh, and they go like the wind! What more could you ask for in a NZ Weather forum thread?

Okay, enough, I'll quit it now.

I thought Brendon was OK on TV One weather tonight but I got annoyed with him going on about those babies tho'
What did that have to do with the weather?
Give the guy time...
there is a transistion to be made from being a disc-jockey to a weather person.
It just takes time :D

Others may have differing opinions, I think Bob McDavitt would be a suitable person - a professional meteorologist, yet speaks in an interesting and entertaining way, as he did the other day on TV1. At least bring him on when there's a very cold outbreak - the white beard and hair would look appropriate.

You'd have to expect that someone new will have some nervous moments. Brendon is getting better allready. I wouldn't say I couldn't stand him or something, I don't really have that much of an opinion on weather presenters at the moment. They're just there and do their thing.

Jim was good though and Augie even though I can't remember him much something tells me he was good! Toni on TV3 would probably have to be the better of them now due to having been doing it for a bit, then Karen on TV one.

I like TV one's graphics a bit better than TV3's though. When looking at the animated map of NZ on TV3 when the're doing a fly by type thing it looks very general for lack of a better word. On TV1 you can see where a front is moving up the country in a nice uniform pattern, you can see where thunderstorms are often with nice bubbly big clouds floating across. The TV3 version looks patchy and it doesn't look all that clear as to where things are happening, when they say thunderstorms for somewhere you get what looks like a thin grey patchy sheet come across that doesn't look all that good. It should be big bubbly clouds moving across. Anyway...

Yeah, Bob would be interesting but the rest of NZ would probably not think highly of it. As wxgirl noted..does NZ want bearded men with old walk socks? Something along those lines..But who know's! Maybe Bob Would be great! Would certainly be something to watch from my point of view.

Go Foggy!

Cheers.

Damn that reminds me, i forgot to get back to a producer from sticky tv (kids tv) who was interested in learning abit more about weather and maybe get someone to go on the show and talk about it.... i was thinking foggy or Aaron might be good, as examples of younger people interested in weather! anyone be interested?
