Front - Storms - 1st- 2nd of April
Making a new Thread for the round of active weather coming up:

very patchy shower areas on the front to the west of the NI currently
not sure if it will get more organised?

I see Met Service dropped risk to low for "thunderstorms" at 3am....good oh

Yes Nelson region seems to be having a good run with the drenchings. The area had the upper level support as well as moisture for a downpour.
As for today, the front over the North Island needs a bit of a surface kick such as daytime warming and orographic lift.(Bay of Plenty is good for that)

wind is still Northerly here..i.e no change to the NW yet...despite a clearance...
maybe a new frontal line might develop?

Certainly warm and humid out there, 24C with 20C dewpoint. Wind is still light NE here.

I see there was a Thunderstorm south of Whangarei in the last hour.

Some nice towering Cu over South Auckland late afternoon ( photo) but they never came to much, isolated heavy showers over the hills down that way.
