EC was predicting 15mm for the Sheffield area only yesterday morningTonyT wrote:Where did you see a prediction of 15-20mm for this weekend?Richard wrote:Two days ago 15-20mm was forcasted, that was dropped back to 3-6mm yesterday, zero bloody rain in the end![]()
Its getting seriously dry now, i would hate to think what it would have been like if we didn't get the wet January.

Can you bring up stats for main centres on that. I'd think there are quite a few areas that have had very low rainfall for that period.RWood wrote:Another very small overnight fall here. Oct-April rainfall is the 2nd lowest in 155 years ...

Could do a bit later when I see the monthly summaries - Nev can probably engineer a search to get answers more quickly ... our running total is 299 mm, record low just 255 in 2000-1.jamie wrote:Can you bring up stats for main centres on that. Thanks, I very rarely watch the TV weather, I find it too infuriating.Richard wrote:Thats what Dan TVNZ1 said Thursday nightTonyT wrote:

Some of the models had 10+mm for this event but they were clearly showing a lot of that as pre-frontal which as most of us know (except perhaps Dan) rarely makes it off the main divide in any significant quantities. So I was surprised to hear any forecasts had more than a few mm.

Re: General April Weather
The average daily maximum here has been higher so far in April than it was for January. Shows how nice the weather has been this month and how miserable it was in January.
Waiting for the cold to start, but enjoying the fact it's taking it's sweet time.
Looking at the metservice 10-day forecasts over the last 2-3 weeks, the days 4+ days out usually have low-teens highs forecast, but as those days get closer, the forecasts always end up at higher-teens or low twenties. I know it can't continue, but it's certainly been great school holiday weather so far.

Rather dull weather here recently. Overcast all day today, min 15C max 18C. April will end with only 35mm rain for the month.

Re: General April Weather
I think the 18C maximum in Auckland today is our coolest maximum so far this year.
Some cold systems reaching Tasmania over the next week but a mild outlook for NZ next week.

April 2016 was another very warm and dry month overall, apart some heavy falls around the Coromandel, parts of the Far North, Westland and Fiordland. Also mostly quite a sunny month.

Re: General April Weather
Record sunshine at Nelson (250 hrs approx.), EWS at Richmond with a higher value, both NZ records anyway.
Kelburn had 200.7 hrs, 3rd highest for all city records from 1907 and not far short of the record 203.7.

bloody Riccarton again. What and where was the 2nd highest temperature recorded, as I still don't recognise Riccarton as an official site.
