Good session from 1900 - 200Hrs last night with a string of Cbs banging away - unfortunately I couldn't get out to play
Good to see you made it through with only (another) wet carpet, Snoops.

It's wierd out there this morning, very low fast moving cloud? With a thin high level cloud, No rain whatsoever, but warnings we can still expect up to 100mm more in the next 12 hours. Apparently there will be another system with lots of rain through on the weekend.
Man, this place just plain old stinks.

Fine morning here, but cloud has increased now and showers are on the way soon.
Showery tomorrow, mostly cloudy on Saturday, wet from Saturday night and strong westerlies from Monday

you guys have tempted me back to post
great photos of a great thunderstorm we had here!
17mm i have from one report that fell in a short period of time
heaps of lightning and thunder
25 knot outflow winds too boot (on a otherwise only 10 to 15 kt wind day).
what wa amazing was how fast the whole thing developed, especialy the 2nd cb line a bit further west...
there was a weak sea breeze coming in the heads that helped the whole thing go up so quickly I think..we ended up with a westerly wind...and we were right on the edge of the rain....but it weird becuase the wind looked like it would blow it on to us...but it was actualy moving north/south...
afterwards quite a good NNE blew...like it was sucking air into it...probably was...
incredible rain in the BOP yet again...unbelievable sights on the TV!
grass jumping out the ground here now
smiles here at least

Yes Brian, looked like a good Thunderstorm over your way yesterday afternoon. Later in the afternoon I noticed another very big Cb W/SW of here but I think this Cb was SW of you and may be out to Sea.
Took the photo below at 4.20pm before low cloud rolled in.

But the low cloud and drizzle returned later in the evening, though it's just cloudy this morning.Persistent low cloud in Chch (but no more drizzle in afternoon, at least not in central city and Burwood) turned into a real pea-souper earlier this evening, but it's now breaking up and I can even see a few stars.

Thanks Aaron, I'm leaving the sandbags in place & haven't bothered cleaning up the silt outside for now.Aaron J Wilkinson wrote:Looks like BOP could see some more rain this Sun morning easing during the afternoon/evening. 50-100mm possible, get ready!
The combined dehumidifier extraction overnight was 70 litres inside... Things are staring to dry nicely now. The Rotating direction fans in addition to the dehumidifiers have made a huge difference.
