Thanks Steven, I haven't had time to look into it in detail yet. Hopefully there will be some good storms!! And seen as it's the weekend is anyone going after them out there? Need some NZstorm photos! And that word has two meanings.

Cheers.

Light SW breeze and clearing skies here, 17C.

Should briefly have some high dewpoint air over us tomorrow with that Low so heavy showers and Thunderstorms do look likely .

Some heavy rain here early this morning from 3am-9am 15.6mm here enough to fill pots up with water. 8)
Strange because the last I had heard in the weather wasn't forecast for rain until tomora afternoon/evening. :? :D Must have been that low to the east of CHCH yes? :? .

Completely off topic, but saw my first smoke rings yesterday at the rugby!
They have these two 'flame throwers' that shoot a flame into the sky that lasts about 1 second, after one blast a smoke ring appeared heading skyward illuminated(sp?) by the lights at jade stadium, quite something to see.

You guys are too darn quiet for my liking... I think I'll leave the sandbags there. The place is just starting to dry out, I don't want it to get wet again.

Where's the predictions for the rainfall in Tauranga tomorrow? ;)

Fine breaks in the morning, with rain developing early- becoming widespread and possibly heavy by evening. Totals around just 28mm, but anything more is possible.
Light northeast breezes at first, becoming fresh and gusty towards evening.
A warm 19c ;)
Fine next week.

Cbs NW and E of Cape Reinga look booming!
Did you guys hear about what the system brought to Brisbane??\
Super sized hail - temps down to 12c at 5pm Friday  transportation around the region was at a standstill.
Stupid news reporter got too excited and started calling it snow :?

Only very slight drizzle early this morning, but a really dull day with low cloud (about 200m base) around Akaroa Harbour all day. Has it been similar in Chch as MetService predicted?

Showers overnight with a fresh warm northerly.
Showers easing today as NW tends lighter SW by tonight.

Some cloud tomorrow, fine Wednesday, late showers Thursday with NW winds picking up, becoming fine again Friday with fresh SW easing.
Fine and cool on Saturday with frosts likely :D

Cleared up earlier than expected on Banks Peninsula:) , though thick fog has rolled in during the last hour. Apparently Kaikoura (as expected) got some heavy rain and a bit of flooding last night, though nothing like the BOP.

Yes we had a good fog layer here today rising to about 150m. Mostly cleared about lunchtime but continued to hang around down the harbour.

The fog cleared leaving a heavy smog layer. I'd imagine a classic inversion day which I think reflects in todays soundings. Am I looking at it right?
