some heavy showers with thunder and hail in Dunedin this afternoon. Nothing of note just north of the city where I'm sitting, apart from a couple rumbles.

The top photo is showing some structure. Good wind shear over Otago today.

Apparently, according to the media, they had a good thunderstorm in central Dunedin yesterday.
9.5mm recorded in 10 minutes.
George Street a white out.

I notice some of the PWS had upto 20mm in 15mins. There was some hail too as you would expect from such a cold airmass.

There were a few posts about it on Page 5 of the monthly thread.
I linked to these two news articles and added 2 lightning pics there as well which could be moved to here.
It caused damage to several buildings around the centre of town apparently with water causing ceiling tiles to collapse in various buildings.
