Re: USA 2017 storm season
There is a lot of concern at the actions of these chasers...
NWS is concerned about them encouraging copycats into stronger tornados.

Really don't see what is the big deal here with this, I'm glad I keep out of the wider chaser community.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
SPC are labelling todays event in SE USA a high risk. The term high risk is significant as it implies a tornado outbreak.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
It went rain wrapped, last reports had it a mile wide. Daniel left pretty quickly as he did not like what it was doing. Have lost the other feed.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
I think the pattern over the next couple of weeks will produce some spells of active weather.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
That tornadic storm in Texas today would have been good to chase as it was slow moving. 7cm hail with it too.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
Possibly a good system mid to late next week
something to watch, moisture return could be an issue.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
Friday (Saturday our time) showing an amplifying short wave crossing southern plains. Looks like a mass of thunderstorms/flash flooding for Oklahoma. A tornado set up could emerge though.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
Another big system later this week but early gfs indications are for a elevated storms/flash flooding along warm front and strong capping along the dry line.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
The longer range upper level pattern looks reasonably mobile with troughs moving through which is what you want to see if you are chasing first two weeks of May. The cold fronts sweeping the moisture back into the Gulf looks to be a problem at the moment but it is still April.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
SPC had a Moderate risk (15% hatched) for tornadoes in Arkansas today and there were no reports.
The strong cold fronts seldom work out well for tornadoes because the cold air undercuts the boundary.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
Thats a big system crossing the midwest next 3 days. Flash flooding/large hail potential with the storms.
Interestingly some late season snow expected over the high plains as well.

Re: USA 2017 storm season
Need to be heading to airport in 15 mins. Fingers crossed the weather will be co-operative. Pleasant surprise that Willoughby will over for 6 weeks and is joined by two friends I met on the 2013 trip
