Sparking as she continues transition on the 8pm sat pic. A few ships doing it tough in 55 knots at the moment. Rainfall totals increasing on EC00z in the upper North Island tomorrow night as the frontal trough pushes in.

The rain is painfully close to the city (Invercargill), must be missing by 5-10km east for the past hour and a bit.

Well the system has certainly dragged down some warm air. Overnight low of 21.9C in Howick with a gusty NE.

It's been messy ET but looks like 1 centre is now consolidating at 40s, 166e @970 hPa and deepening. High tide and strong northerlies starting to close Auckland's notorious flood spots. I clocked a 71 km/h with the hand held on the morning stroll, which is more than I was expecting.... must be getting wild on the SI west coast.

103km gust at 6am south taranaki. Gusts are consistently 70-90kmh

Going by that video its a NNE running down the coastline, that may explain why the winds not overly bad this side
