Up to 55 mm here and barely a puddle good old Burnham free draining. The rain radar seems to be showing much heavier rain around Ashburton quite consistently. Is anyone reporting from down there tonight?

Heavy rain here in Rakaia (not as much rain here so far compared to the event we had last July).
Up in Methven this morning it was just light consistent rain all morning and was still just light consistent rain when I left there at 2pm. There is a boil water notice in force now for the Methven Township water supply.

Please share with Christchurch family and friends...From the Christchurch City Council:
The Dudley Creek bypass is in operation and is helping to divert floodwaters away from Flockton properties.
Christchurch's wastewater system is coming under pressure due to infiltration and inflow from the rain during the storm.
The system will be under the most pressure during tomorrow morning's peak as people prepare for work and school. Please delay washing the dishes or clothes until Wednesday evening or Thursday morning and if you have to shower, keep the shower short.

Yup- if the rain radar is to be beleived we may well have dodged a bullet- those really heavy falls looked to have sliped south towards Selwyn/ Ashburton03Stormchaser wrote: Tue 20/02/2018 21:38City is coping well atm. Lots of steady rain all day in the city and back home in rolleston!
Rain should ease overnight but more steady rain showers tomorrow.

Re: Re: Ex-Tropical Cyclone Gita impacts NZ Feb 18th-21st
Wellington has had a nice little flick in the tail rain wise from the low forming on the eastern side of NZ. Still no severe gale force winds, but some decent rainfall totals. 75mm for the day.
Wellington has got off lightly from this thankfully!
The newly formed low is JUST north enough to stop us getting blasted by strong winds.....
Looking at WindyTV models, it looks like we might not even get any severe gales. (no one tell Air NZ!)Wellington has got off lightly from this thankfully!

We got constant rain here, even though it is still raining, the front lawn and street has drained away, thank goodness. 100mm so far for today here.

Still steady constant heavy rain here. Just looked out the front and as this rain is forecast to continue, I would say by morning the whole front of the property will be under water from side boundary to side boundary. The front part of our driveway is now starting to go under water and is about to meet up with the water laying in front of the living room window. (At this stage still not as much water as the July event last year). My concern is the roads around the area tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately a couple of the amateur sites are going all out grasping the latest Metservice warnings suggesting a further 100mm which are primarily High Country focused. Horses being scared accordingly by blatant massaging of the facts

55 mm here at Tawa for the day.
Still getting some big gusts from the north, but nothing sustained as yet. Fingers crossed - Wellington area may have escaped the worst of it.

Up to 87 this morning. On the drizzle edge of the main rain band all night still obviously pretty wet. Maintaining the heavy stuff just south a bit.

85mm so far. Looking like there will be showers coming from the north this morning.
Would have thought we would have had more wind than we did.
