This front heading towards the NI has got the jet pack on. Multicell clusters continue to spark near the warm front. Severe thunderstorm watch in place for Northland, Auckland & Waikato with localised possible tornadoes in the MS language again.
The warm front tomorrow night into Saturday is upgrading on Access R latest 00z to 100mm+ around Auckland. A stalling convergence zone it thinks.

Does look interesting for rain and possible thunder here Saturday, humid air under coolish upper levels showing on the GFS.
Parts of Mt Eden still have no power.

Rather wild night in Swanson on Tuesday. Fence, Several Trees and other things down. My property was looking like a scene out of Jumanji on Wednesday.

Apparently, according to the ODT, the was a tornado and a thunderstorm in Dunedin Tuesday evening or night.
I thought i would put this on here for the record for this weather event.
Some chap from the Pine Hill area posted some thing on Facebook, I believe

Radar starting to fill in around the western side of the NI. Some clusters sparking closer to the Upper NI in the last hour, a couple around 100 km south west of Auckland.

Some quite heavy falls embedded in this area of rain. Be interesting to see how much we get over the next 24 hours.

Thought I heard distant thunder, radar shows Cb just to the north
Watch for the Auckland temperature to move up shortly, currently 14C.
I see kaitaia is on 19.4C, dewpiont 18C in the warm humid air.

South of the Harbour in Auckland was right in the sweet spot of the convergence zone. Some decent totals stacking up now. More development in the Tasman underway, maybe targeting south of Auckland for the next round. I've had 25mm on the north side, Balmy 20c with a 18c DP.

58mm here overnight with heaps of thunder and lightning, although the rain was so intense at times that it probably drowned out a lot of the thunder…

The active zone was over us around 2 -3am, woken by heavy showers with some thunder and lightning. I noticed David got 33mm in that hr.
Currently the thundery convergence line is lying just south of the Bombay Hills.

Re: Low pressure sequence April 10 - 14
Access R nailed this set up. Other models were never as keen on the intensity.
Solid convergence zone over the Bombay's. New development in the Tasman seems to maybe targeting Auckland in a few hours as the zone wriggles north.
