Hi weather nuts
I'm struggling to extrapolate what the weather will look like in Hanmer Springs this weekend for a 100 Mile race I'm running in, starting friday morning and taking maybe 24-30 hours. Last year snow was forecast overnight in the same race and instead we got wet cold rain, which made a tough job miserable.
This year if I look at the Canterbury Plains forecast its suggesting mild and mostly dry norwest.
If I look at the Culverden section on the high Country forecast its suggesting rain and snow to 600m.
I'm personally picking it will be somewhere in the middle, depending on how vigourous things are up in the main divide, and maybe a few spillover showers.
Any local knowledge out there? Maybe Richard/ Tony? It'll help me decide on some key gear to pack, every gram counts!

West/NW conditions, so mainly fine with high cloudiness, watch for gusty winds at times, mild at night for the time of year but cool by day in the wind.

The race started at 10am, so unfortunately Razor is unlikely to get to read your forecast.....

Yes, we are a bit late posting, but i would say he's had a good day as the wind hasnt been too strong. Hanmer would be one of the most prone townships around to experience extreme wind gust, seems to be mainly when flows are of N-NW and they drop down off the mountains to the north, less so with W-SW as they blow down the Waiau river.
